So much to teach your kids and so little time.I have some insensitive questions for all parents out there.Especially those of you with kids graduating in just a few months. You know who you are!~ Do you want your kids to stop being knuckleheads? ~ Do you want your kids to be able to leave home and get on with their lives, without needing to suck off of you forever? ~ Do you know that your kids are just not ready for what the real world will throw at them? ~ Are you a bit unclear as to just what you should make sure that your kids know before they leave your house?Well.I've got some info that can help you.But first, a little background. Over the past couple of years I have asked the several thousand students taking my college classes and in my audiences at college campuses where I have spoken to tell me the one most important thing that parents should make sure that their kids know before they graduate high school and leave home.Their responses ring with truth because these newly-left-home young adults are in the midst of vividly benefiting or suffering from what they did or did not learn at home before they skedaddled.Anyway, I have taken all those responses and sorted them into what has become (drumroll please).15 Things Your Kids Must Know Before They Leave Home.Because of space constraints I can only share fifteen things that you should make sure that your kid knows before they leave home. And, since time is short for many of you because graduation is right around the corner, I suggest you select just one or two of these "things" to nail into your kid's thick skull. Please note that the list is not in any particular order. Here now the list..1.We Love You.2.Your habits - good and bad - will determine your destiny.3.How to set goals for their personal life and follow a plan to achieve those goals 4.You will face difficult times and situations.5.You may not always be the most talented; but, you can always work hard.6.You have just one life to live and you are 100% responsible for your life.7.Life is not fair or unfair.Life is just life.8.To drive responsibly and to be aware of the terrible consequences of drinking and driving, even if they are the passenger.9.Think very carefully before you do things that are "forever." (Pregnancy, tattoos, piercings, alcohol & drug abuse.) 10.They deserve to be loved by their friends. If they can't love you they are not your friends.11.The key to getting paid lots of money is to become among the very best at whatever it is they do.12.Take full advantage of every talent that you have.13.Stay focused on your goals.14.Put 10% to 15% of everything you earn into your retirement fund.15.Don't have kids with someone you don't want to marry.Remember - You DO deserve to live a great life.Enjoy Life!
